Adam Witthauer

Adam Witthauer, PhD, PMP

President

Adam combines a background of university research, over 15 years of project management in widely different settings, and over a decade of manufacturing engineering experience with a 20+ year military career as retired a Field Artillery Captain.  This professional experience is tempered by a blue collar background.  His passion for manufacturing carries into his personal life, and when not supporting Big W he can be found cutting, grinding, machining, welding or wrenching in his shop in eastern Kansas.

  • Field Artillery Captain, Iowa Army National Guard and US Army

    • Retired after 22 years service in 2019 after serving roles including Battery Commander, Battalion Intelligence Officer, Squadron Fire Support Officer, Brigade Assistant Fire Support Officer, Platoon Leader, Fire Direction Officer, and Assistant Battalion Operations Officer, Communications NCO, Commander's Drive, and Administrative Specialist.

Competence

  • Leadership

    • As Supplier Quality Engineering Manager:

      • Built and led a diverse, engaged team of 21 quality engineers on a foundation of trust that resulted in 2% annual attrition over 2.5 years while maintaining KPIs in the top 30% in the business unit.

      • Created a metric that resulted in a 47% annual reduction in quality holds.This new metric is now being developed for the Division.

    • Military:

      • Two years as Battery Commander for nearly 100 soldiers including a rotation at the Army’s premier Infantry Combat Training Center (JRTC). 

      • Distinguished Honor Graduate for Iowa Officer Candidate School’s (OCS) 2006 class, Commandant's List graduate for Primary Leadership Development Class (PLDC)

  • Project management

    • Served as technical lead or technical contributor for several corporate-level projects valued up to $140M. 

    • Managed over 60 civil development projects in Afghanistan

  • Manufacturing

    • Honeywell DFSS Green Belt Certification

    • Metallurgy, materials science, forming and plasticity research background

    • Experienced in CNC and manual machining, general fabrication, rubber extrusion

    • GD&T

    • Elan Advanced Glass Science Course

  • Simulation and modeling

    • Genetic algorithm optimizations written in Matlab

    • Monte Carlo simulations written in Excel

    • Stress/strain FEM in Solidworks Simulation and COMSOL
