Adam Witthauer, PhD, PMP

President

Adam combines a background of university research, over 15 years of project management in widely different settings, and over a decade of manufacturing engineering experience with a 20+ year military career as retired a Field Artillery Captain.  This professional experience is tempered by a blue collar background.  His passion for manufacturing carries into his personal life, and when not supporting Big W he can be found cutting, grinding, machining, welding or wrenching in his shop in eastern Kansas.

I specialize in turning around struggling supplier relationships and building high-performing quality organizations. At KCNSC, I led a team of 21 engineers supporting critical defense manufacturing, where we transformed our largest supplier from 82% quality rates and chronic delivery failures to 99.75% quality and ahead-of-schedule performance, ultimately earning them Supplier of the Year. I've also championed Kaizen events that drove Cost of Quality scores from 0% to 93% in twelve months, and I've mentored emerging suppliers to become competitive players in their markets.


My approach combines AS9100/ISO 9001 expertise with practical problem-solving tools like FMEA, A3 analysis, and strategic partnerships. I've spent over a decade solving complex manufacturing challenges across diverse industries—from precision machining in defense to high-volume rubber extrusion. At Goodyear, I developed a patented extrusion control algorithm that improved uniformity by 5% and cut waste by 10% across global operations. I've also pioneered new inspection methods, like implementing SmartProfile CMM acceptance that saved $138k and months of delays, and designing automated quality assessment systems using existing equipment.
My technical foundation includes metallurgy, materials science, GD&T, and hands-on experience with CNC machining and fabrication. I leverage simulation tools (FEM, Monte Carlo, genetic algorithms) alongside lean methodologies to identify root causes and implement sustainable improvements. I'm particularly effective at developing people and processes simultaneously—whether that's creating new training programs for technical teams, resolving production crises through cross-functional collaboration, or building cultures of continuous improvement. As a PMP-certified project manager with 15 years of experience, I've led technical initiatives valued up to $140M and managed everything from civil development projects in Afghanistan to corporate transformation efforts.
